The Big Decision

Store owners Tommy and Marscha Lauterstein love sports, outdoor activities, and anything involving adventure.

As there weren’t many retailers catering to these sports in the 1970s, they decided to start their own sporting goods store.

Good Sports Opens

After conversations, big brands like Patagonia, and The North Face agree to do business and Good Sports opens its doors at The Colonnade (Wurzbach & I-H 10) as an Athletic Merchandise Retailer in 1982.

Good Sports Reinvents

During the rise of the shopping mall, Good Sports shifts its focus from a team sports store to a full on outdoor outfitter.

Additionally opening another location in front of North Star Mall that included a climbing wall!

A New Location

Good Sports moves to its current location at I-10 & De Zavala.

This location is known as the main store and features the latest and greatest in the outdoor industry.

The Outlet Store Opens

Good Sports opens its own outlet store featuring discounted past season styles.

The outlet currently offers clothing for men, women, and kids, ski apparel, backpacks and even a limited selection of footwear.
