Who Is Icebreaker?
Icebreaker was created by a 24-year-old Jeremy Moon back in 1995. His aim was to provide garments for outdoor adventures with less reliance on petrochemical fibers, providing a more sustainable future for us.

For many years we have carried Icebreaker and backed their belief that nature has the solutions, with natural performance alternatives to synthetic based apparel to create a healthier more sustainable future for our species and the planet.
Not only was icebreaker the first company to see the potential of merino wool, but they were also the first in the world to establish long-term contracts with their key merino wool growers, based on genuine trust and a mutual concern for animal welfare and protection of the natural environment. So, what makes merino an incredible natural performance fiber and beautiful fabric to wear?
Moisture Management
The merino fiber can actively manage moisture by absorbing from the skin and then desorbing to the atmosphere, leaving you dryer and more comfortable. A merino fiber will absorb up to 35% of its own weight in water before feeling wet, much greater than most synthetic fibers.
Resilience
Wool fiber has very good extensibility and can be extended by more than 30% of its length without breaking and, in turn, can recover from extensions of approximately 20%. Merino wool also has an intrinsic wavelike structure called crimp making it more resilient.
Softness
Fine fibers from sheep such as merino, are comfortable and soft enough to be worn next to the skin. icebreaker Merino fibers are so fine that when in contact with the skin they simply bend, providing softness and comfort.
